Quaking...

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am giving serious thought (as opposed to the glancing, yeah-right, like-I-would-ever-do-that thoughts) to editing "A Tale of Four Cakes" and sending it off to Conciliar Press. Several of you have left comments recently encouraging me to do it, and while I don't know anything about writing, much less editing and publishing, etc., I'll throw caution to the wind and take a stab at it.

I'm will take it off-line while I work on it (starting this evening sometime). If anyone who has read it has serious editing suggestions I am open to them. (I might not do them, but I'll certainly give every suggestion thoughtful consideration.)

This is waaaay outside my comfort zone. I told Father and said, "well, what's the worst that could happen?" He said, "Public humiliation...?" (c; True, lol.

Speaking of which, if anyone wants to jump in now and tell me for my own good that I'm crazy, this is a good time to do it.

I'm all for it dear Matushka! I think it's a wonderful idea. Being involved in my parish's Sunday schools I have found that there is not much orthodox material to use about such issues, and once or twice I seriously considered translating your story into greek so I could use it in one of our lessons. So, if you do go ahead with this I think it would be a great idea to have it translated into greek as well. I'm more than eager to help if you decide to do that. I don't think it would be too hard to have it published here in Greece. And it would be a dream to have the whole thing on paper, with all those lovely illustrations..

Yay! You have a great instinct for storytelling, everything else is just details. :)

I think it's a great story and that you are a wonderful writer. I heartily endorse the plan to submit it for publication. However, we all need an editor, and we all hate and resist being edited. If possible, you might have it looked over by someone who isn't personally close to you and who could be impartial.

Great idea! I definitely think you should do it (and I believe this isn't the first time I told you this!). I agree with LV; get someone to edit it for you, someone who is not close to you. All the best!!

yes! I'm emailing you more thoughts, but I also agree with the editor idea, if you know someone. Editors are awesome (even if its a little painful).

Yay! FWIW, if a publisher likes it, they will probably help you edit it. :)
