Peaceful Kitchen

A rare peaceful time in the kitchen late this afternoon. The much-needed rain was pouring down. I watched it outside the kitchen windows as I snapped beans into a colander.

The baby was in her highchair beside me, munching on apple slices in her mesh feeder. We just picked those apples a few days ago.

The *snap* of the beans, the drumming of the rain, and the little baby noises combined to make something lovely. I was at peace with the world.

  2. Sounds pretty good. Last night here was the sounds of Frasier season 1 (we're rewatching the entire box set), my husband playing with his Lego (yes, his Lego) getting ready for an upcoming exhibition (his second of the year), me doing digital scrapbooking/photo editing, and the laundry running.... all while raining.

    1. Oh, we love legos around this house. ;) I've had a sudden urge to rewatch all of the Newhart episodes (we have them on DVD)...

    1. I remember that we used to borrow a pea-sheller when I was in high school. We had bags and bags of field peas from friends and we sat out there in the driveway and ran them through the sheller. You'd hate to get your finger caught in there...
