Crocheted Toy Censer

Pickles has been begging for a new censer. I made him one when he turned 3 and it finally disintegrated.

It looks functional, but it wasn't.

Over the last few days I've worked on another one for him. Alas, I didn't have access to multiple sized gold rings but I made do.

Anyway, he's happy!

    1. Perhaps I would if I had better supplies - as in, not having to use shower curtain rings!

  2. Yes, you need to make these available to long suffering Orthodox moms struggling to improvise censers out of pudding cups or yogurt containers and such...

    1. Well, it's a thought. If I can get better materials I might sell them on Etsy. Thoughts on price?

    1. Goodness! I may just have to think about this... Of course, no one has suggested a price yet...

      (The "charcoal" is actually made out of Sculpy clay by Flopsy. But I was thinking something more along the lines of taking some black wool I have and felting it (so it's softer).)

    2. I think a lot would be willing to pay 15-20 for that

  4. Those are cute! I made my boys censors out of a kitchen sink strainer + some chain and key rings (which works fine), but yours looks much better (and is probably quieter, I'm guessing!)

    1. Gracious - yes, probably quieter than that! (And slightly less likely to hurt if bonked on the head too...) (c;

  5. This is FANTASTIC, matushka!!! As in, I-want-one-for-myself-although-I-'m-a-27-year-old-woman fantastic!
    When we were kids, my brother had improvised and made himself a censer by wrapping a children's ice cream cup (the ones with a toy underneath) with foil. The bells were also made from balls of foil, so there (sadly) was no ringing... But other than the silver color, it looked very realistic. Aah, those memories... You made my day, God bless you (and Pickles) !
    I would pay good money to have you send me one of these all the way to Greece in time for Christmas - the look on his face will be priceless (he's 35! :) )

    Hmm, I don't know what it cost, but I would give 20$ (shipping not included:D) with nooo hesitation (of course I can't crochet, haha!)

  6. my boys turned slinkys, sticks, plastic chains all into censers. I never thought to make them a realistic one. I wonder if you could find yellow or gold or orange shower curtain rings? Rebecca Groover is knitting nun dolls for her etsy shop, poppy and pearl. These would go great with those.

    1. I am still looking for rings in the proper size that don't have the connector (like shower curtain rings). I believe I've finally found some by scouring Amazon. And yes, those dolls are lovely!
