Yarn Along: What We Wore

I'm in the process of making a batch of non-pastel baby and children's hats to go in the shop. These are perfect for fall and winter! The yarn is so soft to work with. I will definitely be getting more once I've used it all up!

For light reading I reread "What We Wore" the last few nights. It was published in 1984 so it's written from that point of view, but it's a very enlightening and entertaining description of what women wore in the 50s, 60s and 70s. There are even excerpts of letters in each chapter written by dozens of women giving their unique points of view. The illustrations (movie stills, advertisements, etc.) are plentiful. I only wish I knew of a comparable book from the 80s and 90s! Since I was born in 1974 I only caught the tail end of the era covered and was rather young to be thinking about clothing at the time. I found my copy in the thrift store but there are very inexpensive used copies online available.

    1. I think I like pastel baby hats as much as the next person, but I also like the option of NON-PASTEL too! These colors were so pretty!

  3. Love the hats (I'm a big fan of warm and bright colors, even for little kids), and that book looks really interesting. I would also very much love to see an 80s-90s edition!
