St. Andrew

Troparion — Tone 4

Andrew, first-called of the Apostles
and brother of the foremost disciple,
entreat the Master of all
to grant peace to the world
and to our souls great mercy.

Kontakion — Tone 2

Let us praise Andrew, the herald of God,
the namesake of courage,
the first-called of the Savior’s disciples
and the brother of Peter.
As he once called to his brother, he now cries out to us:
“Come, for we have found the One whom the world desires!”

Read the life of St. Andrew.

Memory Eternal to our departed infant Andrew!

We had a beautiful baptism this afternoon in our parish. Many years to the newly-illumined Maria and her family and godparents!

Yarn-Along: Toy Censer and Mitford

After a bit of a delay, I finally got the younger-child's version of the toy censer done and listed it on Etsy.

I have a feeling there's going to be a bit of a demand...

I have so many things I need to make that I'm a tad overwhelmed. It's been difficult to get everything done lately. Philippians 4:13!

P.S. - A HUGE thanks to Michelle for sharing the knitted acorns on her blog, Be As A Light!

I started rereading the Mitford books by Jan Karon the other night. Not "great literature", but very comforting and funny. A lovely bedtime read. I'm currently about to get Out to Canaan off the shelf. :) I've been so exhausted, what with mild illness and working on the shop, that I haven't been able to get started on The Natural Family (mentioned in last week's post). I'll get on it soon, I hope!

New Items in the Shop!

I think every Christmas needs something handmade in it! I just added two sets of Christmas ornaments to the shop listings. (Here and here.) From my shop description: "These sweet little ornaments would look darling on your tree, but think of the other possibilities: Use them as gift toppers, stocking stuffers, hostess gifts, teacher gifts, St. Nicholas Day gifts, string them on ribbon over a window, or attach them to a wreath! They're one of a kind and would be perfect for ornament swaps."

I also added another quilt and pillows set!  I love the colors on this one.

Yarn Along: Christmas Ornaments

A day late, but hopefully not a dollar short! I've been trying to make some Christmas ornaments for the shop this past week. I haven't had much time to get things done, but here are a few things I've finished:

Needless to say, better pictures will be taken for the shop!

I'm thinking about making sets of three ornaments to sell. Thoughts?

I'm going to make a few more before adding them to the shop listings.

I made a sweater like the one below while I was waiting at the doctor's office yesterday. Which tells you a little bit about how long I was there. I gave it to the office staff as a token of my appreciation.

This is the first time (I think) that I'm posting about a book I haven't even looked at yet (beyond the table of contents). Father got it recently and assured me that it's right up my alley. It looks great. Has anyone else read it?

Grey Ruffled Doll Sweater

I finished this adorable little sweater yesterday, but it was too dark to take pictures. Then we had to go to Vespers. Anyway, I just finished taking all the photos this afternoon out in the yard and listing it on Etsy. It's so cute! I need to make some in other colors. Next time I think I'll make some notes so I'll eventually be able to write the pattern (it came out of my head).
