Crib Quilt

I finally finished the crib quilt I've been working on for a couple weeks! I think it turned out really well. You can find the listing here.

Baby Gnome

I took Miss Moppet out this morning for a photo shoot to model the new baby gnome hats I'm going to offer in the shop. I just about died from the cuteness. I'm sharing a wealth of photos here since I can't share them all on the listing. She's just adorable!! (If I do say so myself...)

Glorious Day

Can I just say how absolutely gorgeous it is outside right now? It is! It's sunny, 64, low humidity and breezy with wind gusts. I just finished hanging a load of clothes on the line. (Yes, I know it's Sunday, but we've had illness in the house and  big family + illness = laundry.)

It's like this:

Except I don't have short blond hair, I'm dressed rather less nicely and instead of a flowery meadow, there's a somewhat muddy back yard. Oh, and I'm not in the Swiss Alps.

And there's none of this going on:

So, I guess that's not a good comparison at all. But it still feels great!

Some items coming down the pipe...

I just finished this set today:  (more photos on the shop listing)

It's crocheted using bamboo thread and is SO soft and drapes so well!

This hat isn't in the shop yet, but will be soon. It's size newborn to 3 months (approximately) and I don't have one of those little models around. So I'm going to make one in Miss Moppet's size and photograph her in it. Then I'll offer them both in the shop.

(I know that last photo is slightly blurry. I take the photos outside and right now it's cloudy, damp, breezy and only 39 degrees. My hands were starting to shake and it was hard to hold the camera still!)

Lovely afternoon

It's clear, sunny and 64 outside right now. Just right for short sleeves.

I was out taking a few photos of some baby bear knit pants (part of a custom order) and snapped a few pictures of Mr. Green Eyes.

(the back: like the little bear tail? (c; )

It's lovely outside! Not exactly what you think of when you think of January, but I try not to pay too much attention to the calendar. :)

Three cream cheese danishes headed to coffee hour this morning...

One of them blueberry!

Yarn Along: Baby Lamb

This week I made an adorable baby lamb outfit consisting of bonnet, diaper cover and booties. Miss Moppet is only modeling the (too small for her) hat because there's no way she'd fit into the other items - they're sized newborn to six months! It's for sale in my Etsy shop, Cozy House Curios.

I've been rereading Storm Warning: The Story of a Killer Tornado about the 1999 Bridge Creek-Moore tornado in Oklahoma. This is the tornado in which the highest winds ever recorded (302 mph) were measured. Sometimes there are storms in which your best hope (and sometimes only hope) of survival is to be underground.

I found this episode of Paramedics on Youtube. The people filming the show happened to pick an emergency medical service in Oklahoma City the day of the tornado. The video they shot is... gripping. It has done more than anything I've ever read or seen to convey the controlled panic of the immediate aftermath of the tornado. As someone with a medical background, my heart was in my throat and I felt as if I were working alongside the lone paramedic trying to triage and treat in the hardest-hit Bridge Creek community. If you're at all faint of heart, I suggest you not watch this.

It's odd, but I think we've had more severe weather this winter than last summer. Strange.

What are you reading and creating?
